This is a real Saigon neighborhood. It’s District 5.
I’ve been back in the big city a month, my second Saigon life, and this time I’m simplifying things. That means living a short walk from work. A very short walk. As in 90 seconds. That’s right. My office is three doors down from my house.
I had no choice. One of the biggest reasons I moved to Da Nang in March was to escape the sh*tshow on Saigon’s roads. Now there’s no need to depend on the subpar ride share services in Vietnam. I had such a horrible experience my first go round with them, I won’t even mention their names. Think of it as the all-publicity-is-good-publicity effect. So I’m giving them no publicity. Doesn’t matter, though. My plan will help me enjoy this city more the second time around. It is such a relief, knowing I don’t have fight through traffic to go to work and then back home.

You never know what you will see at September 23 Park in District 1.

Bun thit nuong cha gio is one of the signature dishes in Saigon. I found this delicious bowl in District 3.

Walking down an alley in Phu Nhuan District, I noticed some street art I had to remember. The motorbike in front of it is very Vietnam.
